Genealogies of Pembroke New Hampshire

Genealogies of Pembroke, New Hampshire is derived from the second volume of the town’s published history and is devoted to recording the family lines of residents connected with Pembroke from its early settlement through the nineteenth century. Owing to limits of space and the uneven survival of records, the work does not attempt to present complete genealogies for every family that lived in the town. Preference is given to early settlers and to families long resident in Pembroke, with later generations traced only so far as the available material and local relevance permit.

The genealogies are arranged alphabetically by family. Within each family, individuals are numbered consecutively, with cross-references provided to link related entries and successive generations. Dates and names are given in full whenever possible, and a standardized system of numbering, symbols, and abbreviations is used throughout to ensure consistency and ease of reference. Comprehensive indexes allow readers to locate individuals and related families efficiently.

The compilation is based on a wide range of sources, including town records, family Bibles, cemetery inscriptions, published genealogies, and personal correspondence and interviews. Where conflicting information was encountered, the editors weighed the available evidence to arrive at the most reliable conclusions. While the possibility of error is acknowledged, care was taken to verify dates and relationships whenever possible.

Taken together, the volume provides a structured record of Pembroke’s families and their connections, preserving lineage information that might otherwise have been lost and complementing the narrative history presented in the first volume of the town history.

Found within this volume’s supplementary material is a compilation of marriage records, which occurred in Pembroke, New Hampshire, from 1739 through 1895.
