The “Genealogies of Pembroke, New Hampshire” is derived from the town’s second historical volume, and documents the connections of early settler families through the nineteenth century. It emphasizes families of the first settlers and families who resided in Pembroke over a long period of time. Organized alphabetically by surname, the genealogies use a consistent numbering system for easy reference. Carter draws from diverse sources, including town records and personal accounts of Pembroke’s citizens, while acknowledging possible inaccuracies in both their memory and the collection of information. However, by preserving these family lineages, Carter enhances the town’s historical narrative, complementing the first volume’s historical content. Supplementing this volume of genealogies is a compilation of marriage records which occurred in Pembroke, New Hampshire, from 1739 through 1895.

Genealogy of the Sharpless family

Five years after the great family bi-centennial reunion held on 25 August 1882 in Chester County, Pennsylvania, Gilbert Cope published his massive volume on the 200 years of Sharpless family ancestry in America, called “Genealogy of the Sharpless family : descended from John and Jane Sharples, settlers near Chester, Pennsylvania, 1682 : together with some account of the English ancestry of the family, including the results of researches by Henry Fishwick, F.H.S., and the late Joseph Lemuel Chester, LL.D. : and a full report of the bi-centennial reunion of 1882.”. This monumental, well-researched tome sought to answer the genealogical and historical questions and answers brought to light from that 1882 reunion. The Wilson Family, Somerset and Barter Hill Branch

In the preparation of “The Wilson family, Somerset and Barter Hill branch” I have discovered two lists of the names of the sons and daughters of Col. Ben and Ann Seay Wilson of “Somerset” in Cumberland County, Virginia, in addition to the list found in my father’s notes. None of these was arranged in the same chronological order. It was my good fortune in 1915 to find the Bible, claimed to be the Bible of Col. Ben and Ann Seay Wilson of “Somerset” in Cumberland County, Virginia. At that time this was in the hands of Miss Clementine Reid Wilson, Col. Ben’s great-granddaughter, and it was my privilege to copy, with the aid of a reading glass, for the ink was badly faded, the names of their children from that Bible in the same chronological order in which they were recorded. This chronological order, and military records found, support each other. I therefore believe that this sketch contains the most accurate chronological list of Col. Ben’s and Ann Seay Wilson’s children to be found outside of his Bible.

German, Myrna Maxine Sipp Mrs. – Obituary

Myrna Maxine German, 66, of Baker City, passed away on November 18, 2005. Born on January 14, 1939, to Max and Enid Sipp, she married Bud German in 1955. A bookkeeper by profession, she was active in local bowling leagues and enjoyed outdoor activities despite her battle with multiple sclerosis. Myrna is survived by her husband, mother, brother, and other family members. A private service was held, with arrangements by Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Memorials can be made to the MS Foundation.
