Alexander Bisset Munro was born 25 Dec. 1793 at Inverness, Scotland to Donald and Janet (Bisset) Munro. Alexander left Scotland at the age of 14, and lived in Dimecrana in the West Indies for 18 years. He owned a plantation, raising cotton, coffee and other produce. He brought produce to Boston Massachusetts on the ship of Solomon Dockendorff. To be sure he got his money, Solomon asked his to come home with him, where he met Solomon’s sister, Jane Dockendorff. Alexander went back to the West Indies, sold out, and moved to Round Pond, Maine, and married Jane. They had 14 children: Janet, Alexander, Margaret, Nancy, Jane, Mary, Solomon, Donald, John, William, Bettie, Edmund, Joseph and Lydia.

Wallowa, Oregon Miss Gladys Wiley Wallowa, Oct. 18 –Miss Gladys Wiley, aged 22 years, daughter of E. L. Wiley, died of acute appendicitis, Tuesday evening about 9 o’clock, at the Wallowa hospital. She submitted to an operation Saturday evening and the conditions were found to be so bad that there was little chance of saving her life, yet she rallied and for a day or two hope was entertained by the relatives and many friends. The records include individual jackets which give the name, organization, and rank of each soldier. They contain cards on which information from original records relating to the military service of the individual has been copied. Included in the main jacket are carded medical records, other documents which give personal information, and the description of the record from which the information was obtained.
