Hooke; one son, Harold H.; came to America with parents in 1850; located at Flint, Mich.; enlisted, September 1863, with the Michigan Cavalry (Custer Brigade), (Sheridan’s Cavalry Corps); served until the close of the war; with the W. U. Telephone Co. at Toledo until 1869; with the same company at Detroit, as bookkeeper and cashier, 1869-1885; transferred to Cleveland, as mgr. of their Cleveland office, 1885-1892; elected cashier Cleveland National Bank, October, 1892; appointed member and elected pres. New City Hall Commission in 1898; served as such until January, 1912, when commission was discontinued; pres. Merchants’ Banking & Storage Co.; sec’y, treas. and director Electric R. R. Improvement Co.; same offices in Forest City Electric Co.; treas. and director A. S. Gilman Printing Co.; director and officer in several other corporations; member Y. M. C. A. Corporation; sec’y Oriental Lodge, F. & A. M., Detroit, 1875 to 1885; sec’y Tyrian Lodge, F. & A. M., Cleveland seventeen years; treas. since 1906; member Colonial, and Masonic Clubs.
