Jake Hearing Passes After Eighty Years Was Well Known in Local Community; Made and Held Friends by Sterling Character Jacob C. Hearing, lifelong resident of Oregon, passed away at the Law Hospital Thursday evening. March 2, at the ripe age of 80 years. Jake had suffered a stroke sometime Wednesday afternoon and was found by neighbors Thursday morning in critical condition. He was removed to the Law hospital at once, but the shock and exposure were more than his weakened condition could stand. Mr. Hearing was born and raised at Haines in Baker County. He was the youngest of 13 children of Sam P. and Susan Hearing. His grandparents came to Baker County at the time of the Civil War.
