Ruth Genevieve Hearing, 79, La Grande, died Monday, May 15, 1995 at Grande Ronde Hospital.
A service for Mrs. Hearing will be at the Grandview Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday. Friends may call at Daniels Chapel of the Valley on Thursday until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Hearing was born on May 8, 1916, to Jesse and Mary Ann (Glasson) Breshears in Elgin. She attended schools in Elgin and later graduated from La Grande High School. She married Harold V. Hearing on April 4, 1946. He died on Oct. 7, 1966.
She worked as a deputy sheriff along with her father, who was sheriff at the time.
Mrs. Hearing was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Emblem Club, the Eagles Auxiliary and was active with a bowling league. She became a charter member of the Grande Ronde Bird Club in 1977. She loved hunting, fishing, mushrooming and the mountains, and her flowers and garden.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Regina Hearing of Cove, and Robert and Linda Hearing of Milwaukie; grandchildren, Jamie, Cody and Matthew, all of La Grande; a sister, Bessie Geiger of Klamath Falls; and other friends and relatives.
Her brothers, Richard and Buss Breshears, and a sister, Anna Dougherty, died earlier.
