Jake Hearing Passes After Eighty Years
Was Well Known in Local Community;
Made and Held Friends by Sterling Character
Jacob C. Hearing, lifelong resident of Oregon, passed away at the Law Hospital Thursday evening. March 2, at the ripe age of 80 years.
Jake had suffered a stroke sometime Wednesday afternoon and was found by neighbors Thursday morning in critical condition. He was removed to the Law hospital at once, but the shock and exposure were more than his weakened condition could stand. He was conscious up to a short time before his death, which occurred at 8:30 p.m.
He was well known, and his friends were numbered only by his acquaintances.
For the past several years Jake lived in a little cabin in the southwest part of town. During the fishing seasons he furnished his neighbors with many a fine fish dinner.
Jake was a man of sterling qualities. His friendly smile and pleasing ways will be missed by all who knew him.
He was laid away Sunday afternoon in the Elgin cemetery, among the hills he loved and has been a part of the last 70 years.
