Michigan, LL. B.; married Port Clinton Sept. 12, 1893; Elizabeth N. Garnhard; issue, one son and one daughter; taught school in Ottawa County; served four years as deputy county treasurer, six years a member of Board of County school Examiners, six years as Prosecuting atty., all in Ottawa County; served as delegate to the Democratic National Convention at Chicago in 1896 from 9th Congressional District of Ohio; member Democratic State Central Committee in 1903-1904; moved to Cleveland in 1906; elected to the 63rd Congress from the 20th district of Ohio in November, 1912; pres. and member board of directors The Gordon Lumber Basket & Mnfg. Co., Oak Harbor, O.; director The National Retarder Co., Port Clinton, O.; member American Association for the Advancement of Science; ex-officio (as member of Congress, 20th district, trustee of the Andrews Institute for Girls, at Willoughby, O.); member Forest City Commandery, K. T., Thatcher Chapter, R. A. M., and M. M. in Biglow Lodge; member Past Master’s Ass’n of Cleveland. Recreation: Duck Hunting.
