B., Hamilton College, 1876; en B., Harvard University, 1877; married, Cleveland, April 20, 1881, Alice Maude-Overton; issue two children; second marriage, Cleveland, Nov. 11, 1889, Maud Stager; issue, five children; Republican; pres. 1896-1911, and now chairman of board, Bucyrus Company, manufacturers of dredges, steam shovels, etc.; said company furnishing three-fourths of the excavating machinery used in the construction of the Panama Canal; pres. Atchison & Eastern Bridge Co., Chicago Drop Forge & Foundry Co., Harlan Stone Co., New England Bldg. Co.; director Superior Savings & Trust Co., and National City Bank, Cleveland, and Portland Cement Co., Sandusky, O.; pres. National Metal Trades Ass’n, 1909-1910 (trustee 190S-1912), treas. and trustee Cleveland Humane Society; treas.
