Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon

Enterprise resident, James Wolvert Fisher, 74, died Dec. 18, 1994, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. “J-Dub”, as he was affectionately called, was born June (incorrect) 21, 1920, at Vale, the son of James E. and Vera Kyle (Draper) Fisher. After graduating from Wallowa High School in 1939, he worked with his father on Alder Slope cutting wood and helping in the family restaurant “Fisher’s Cafe”.

On May 2, 1945, he married Margaret (Margy) Ruth Reece. She preceded him in death in 1988.

After a 3 1/2 year tour of duty in France, Italy and Africa, he returned home to Wallowa County to raise his family and pursue a 32 year career with the Oregon State Highway Department. He retired in 1982 and devoted much time to his love of outdoors and wood working.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Fisher of Asotin, Wash., Allyn and Diana Fisher of Enterprise, and Bill and Michelle Fisher of Joseph; grandsons, Jeff and Brad Fisher of Enterprise and Travis Fisher of Echo; granddaughters, Kelly Fisher of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jessie Fisher of Echo; and one brother, Leland fisher of Hillsboro.

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, at 11 am at the Bollman Funeral Home with private interment in the Enterprise cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the 4-H Association in Wallowa County in care of Bollman Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Enterprise.
