Lang, Charles E.; manufacturer; born, Cleveland, July 14, 1858; son of Joseph and Caroline Greimer Lang; educated, public schools, Cleveland; married, Cleveland, 1883, Katherine E. Schwinzer; one son, Elmer J. Lang, born April 28, 1884; started with Charles Rauch, Jan. 8, 1878, in the carriage and wagon business. taking full charge of the office work and later full supervision of the building of highgrade carriages; in 1885, purchased one-quarter interest in the firm, Rauch & Lang, until 1888, then organized as stock company, capital, $100,000, in 1906, began the building of electric carriages, discontinuing the building of horsedrawn vehicles, and devoting all the time to building electric vehicles; vice pres. and treas. The Rauch & Lang Carriage Co.; pres. The Lakewood Realty Co.; director The Universal Life Insurance Co.; member Knight Templar, Masonic Order, Shriner, Blue Lodge, Halcyon, Thatcher Chapter; member Clifton, and Athletic Clubs; was sec’y and treas. of The Rauch & Lang Co. for twenty-five years.
