Enterprise, Oregon The passing of one of Wallowa’s pioneers occurred Tuesday morning July 9th, when Aunt Mary Wright died at her home in Enterprise after an illness of several months. She and her husband homesteaded on Alder slope among the very first settlers in the county. Had she lived until December would have 89 years. Three sons are living in this city: George, Layfayette and Tom Wright. One son, Henry Wright lives in Portland and a daughter, Mrs. H. A. Owenby at Oregon City. Lenington of Enterprise, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening July 17, 1953 at the Wallowa Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Word has been received of the death of Fred M. Billings, father of E.M. Billings of this place and Lou Billings of Portland. The father’s death occurred in Montana last Friday of the influenza. A sister of the brothers died the first of last week with the dreaded disease and before the funeral was held a telegram was received announcing the death of the father and the double funeral was held in Portland on Tuesday of this week. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Amos A. Greer, well known rancher and workman of Willow Springs district, died suddenly of pneumonia Tuesday night, Sept. 19. Wallowa, Oregon Nicholas Christoff died March 5, 2006 in Portland. He was 68. Mr. Christoff was born April 11, 1937 in Denver, Colo. He enjoyed fishing on the river and visiting with his many friends. He is survived by his mother, Sonya Christoff and his sister, Sandra Farrington of Wallowa, three nephews and nine great nephews and nieces. Debrah Rae Collins, 50, died at her home in Enterprise on Dec. 20, 2004. She was born Nov. 2, 1954 in Lebanon to Ray Albert Davenport and Dorothy Louise (Ruggles) Davenport. Debrah worked as a kitchen helper at the hospital. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Davenport, niece Melissa Jarrad, and her great niece Josie Jarrad, and her great nephew Damien Jarrad. Kills Self When Twins Arrive Nelson Crowl, 45, a truck gardner, six miles east of Minam, in Wallowa county, shot and killed himself when he received word that his wife was the mother of twins born in the La Grande hospital. The body was found at the Crowl home last Saturday five days after the act.
