Services were Dec. 12, with burial in Prairie Creek Cemetery at Joseph. Mr. Duckett was born Sept. 18, 1894, in Cassville, Mo., to Bill and Florence Duckett, the third of 13 children. Lostine, Wallowa County, Oregon Maurice Norman Juve, 74, died at his home in Salem, 668 Salem Heights So., on July 10, 1980. He had spent his childhood in Enterprise High School. He was born on July 14, 1905, in Nellsville, Wis. A graduate of Oregon State University, he was employed by the Oregon State Highway Department for over 30 years, retiring in 1967. Joseph, Wallowa County, Oregon Mrs. Vic Crow Fatally Injured in Auto Crash Mrs. Victor M. Crow was instantly killed Saturday evening when the Crow car met with a violent accident as they were on their way to the basketball tournament in Wallowa. The accident occurred about three-quarters of a mile west of Lostine. Mrs. Crow apparently died from severe head injuries. The automobile was completely demolished. Charles (Chuck) Ackley, Enterprise, died at his home on Williamson Road on Feb. 7. 1991. He was born on Sept. 25, 1923 in California. He was a graduate of Whitman College and worked in Seattle, Portland , the bay area, and in Walla Walla and the Tri-Cities as a bookseller, technical writer and editor, and as an administrator. Troy, Wallowa County, Oregon Ray C. Hester, who was engaged in stock raising at Troy a few years beginning in 1918, died at Pendleton Monday after a short illness. He was born at Emmetsburg, Iowa, 54 years ago, and the family moved to Lewiston, Idaho in 1904. After leaving Troy he moved to Pendleton, and at the time of his death he was assistant cashier of the branch of the First National Bank of Portland. Henry Miller, an honored pioneer of Wallowa county, died at his home in Turlock, California, Sunday morning aged 73 years. No particulars of his death has been received. Mr. Miller was born in Virginia and cmae to Oregon 30 years ago. He was active in the upbuilding of this county and no man was mre highly respected. He served two terms as county treasurer. Wallowa County, Oregon Horace John Butler was born in Louisville, Henry County, Indiana May 28, 1850, and died at his home near Fruita, Oregon, September 16, 1926, aged 76 years, 3 months and 19 days. Botts a pioneer resident of the county and of the Flora District, died Thursday Nov 24 1938 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Eva Fleet, where she had made her home for 15 years. Enterprise, Oregon Barbara Ruth Berland, 92, of Pendleton, died Feb. 25, 2004. She was born Aug. 31, 1911 to Burton and Mabel (Gray) Kelsay in Burns. After graduating from Redmond High School in 1931, she lived with an aunt when she was selected as a princess for the Fourth of July Celebration in Enterprise. She married Marvin “Jake” Berland of Paradise in 1933 and together they ranched in Wallowa County for the next 30 years.
