Joseph, Wallowa County, Oregon Irene Samples Dies At Hillsboro Irene Joan Samples, 43, of 224 A St., Vernonia, Oregon, passed away at Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro Friday, August 29, from a heart attack. Funeral services were held September 1 at the Evangelical Church in Vernonia with interment in the Vernonia Memorial Cemetery. Irene Joan Samples was born in Enterprise, Oregon on March 5, 1932 to Frank L. Otto and Mildred Zollman Otto. She was reared in Joseph, Oregon and attended both grade and high school there. John W. McCully born. 22 May 1821 New Brunswick; died 20 Jan 1899 Joseph, OR – 67 years 7 months 28 days. In 1822 the family moved to OH, stayed until 1844; 1844-1851 in IA; 1852-1862 resident of Jacksonville, OR; 1862-1867 visited Idaho, Montana, and Missouri – attended medical school in St. Louis. He had studied medicine and become a practitioner in IA. 1868-1878 purser on Willamette River steamboats; 1880-1889, resident of Joseph, OR. Joseph, Oregon Dr. Robert Neil Blackburn, 77, of Cushing, Okla., and formerly of Joseph died July 27. Dr. Blackburn was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Cushing, Okla. He served as a jet fighter pilot in the Korean War and taught other pilots how to fly by instrument. After leaving the military, he graduated from medical school at the University of Oklahoma, and served his residency at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane. Clinton S. Daggett of Joseph died Jan. 15, 2006 at Willow Brook Terrace in Pendleton of natural causes. He was 89. Mr. Daggett was born in Joseph to Charles Walter and Lida Blanche Holmes Daggett.
