This survey of Wintergreen Cemetery, Port Gibson, Mississippi, was completed in 1956 by Mr. Gordon M. Wells and published by Joyce Bridges the same year. It contains the cemetery readings Mr. Wells was able to obtain at that date. It is highly likely that not all of the gravestones had survived up to that point, and it is even more likely that a large portion of interred individuals never had a gravestone.

Wm. T. Reeve, born in 1847 in Stockholm, New York, established a manufacturing business for buggies and wagons in 1872 after relocating to Wisconsin and then Minnesota. He served as fife-major in the 193rd New York regiment during the Civil War. In 1871, he married Laura J. Damron in Minnesota, and they have one daughter, Zenia M. Reeve.
William T. Reeves, born in Kinkleville, Kentucky, in 1855, was a distinguished lawyer in Idaho, residing in Pocatello. He was educated in local schools and admitted to the bar in 1875 after studying under an older brother. Reeves practiced law in various Idaho towns, establishing a strong reputation for integrity and ability. A lifelong Democrat, he was active in state politics, running for several judicial and attorney general positions. Married to Jennie T. Thomas, he fathered six children and contributed significantly to community welfare in Pocatello.
Truman Reeves, known as the proprietor of San Bernardino’s oldest jewelry store, began his career apprenticing with Julius King in Ohio at the age of sixteen. A Civil War veteran, he lost his left arm at the Battle of Cold Harbor but ingeniously adapted to continue his craft as a watchmaker. After relocating to California in 1874, he partnered in a jewelry business and later served in the State General Assembly. Reeves was a dedicated Republican and family man, married to Marion E. McConkey, with two children.

The approved roll of minor Choctaw freedmen contains 473 names. The large percentage of omissions in this class is explained elsewhere. It is quite probable that there are others of this class whose claims have not yet been presented or disclosed.
Willis B. Reeves, born June 19, 1835, near Elkton, Kentucky, is the son of Willis L. Reeves and Margaret Edwards. He pursued law under Hon. F. M. Bristow and H. G. Petrie, eventually combining his legal career with agriculture. Reeves served as County Attorney and Judge of the County Court in Todd County. He married Priscilla G. Davidson in December 1859, and they had eight children. The Reeves family is affiliated with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Elkton.
