Seney, Marjean Chisholm Henry Mrs. – Obituary

Marjean Chisholm Henry Seney, 78, a former Baker City resident, died Jan. 31, 2008, of cancer at her son’s home in Eden Prairie, Minn.

Her memorial service will be at 3 p.m. March 1 at the First Presbyterian Church, 325 First St., in Walla Walla, Wash. Disposition was by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.

Marjean was born on June 3, 1929, at Walla Walla to Julian J. and Mae Wattenberger Chisholm. She attended Walla Walla High School, The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, Calif., and graduated from Annie Wright Seminary at Tacoma, Wash., in 1947. She attended Washington State University at Pullman where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

In 1950 she moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where she met and married Thomas D. Henry. They lived in Baker City from 1952 to 1964 where her husband operated Baker Feed Mill and Grain and the Haines Feed Mill and Grain. They later divorced.

Marjean returned to Walla Walla where she worked for the newspaper for several years. In 1970 she became a real estate agent with Linscott, Wylie and Blize and later was a broker with Jeffries Agency.

She married Robert J. Seney in 1975 and lived outside Dayton, Wash., on a wheat ranch until moving back to Walla Walla in 1998.

Marjean was an active and longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a life master American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) duplicate bridge player and a much-loved bridge partner in many leagues, her family said. A featured artist, avid gardener, excellent cook, seamstress and fly fisherwoman were among many of her talents and interests. She also had the good fortune to travel extensively.

Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Seney of Walla Walla; her sister, Barbara Chisholm Blake of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; her son, Blair Henry and his wife, Dr. Charlotte Hovet, of Eden Prairie, Minn; daughter, Kay Teresa “Katie” Henry of The Dalles; son, Dane Henry and his wife, Sonja, of Phoenix, Ariz; grandson, Dylan Henry Higgins of Hanover, N.H.; stepchildren, Sandra (Seney) and Robert Mansfield of Spokane, Wash., Van and Debra Seney of Waitsburg, Wash., and Sharril (Seney) and Louis Torres of Port Angeles,Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother-in-law, Emmons Blake, who died in 2007.
