J. J. Lee, an Oregon pioneer and an old resident of Pendleton, died at his home on Alta Street Sunday morning [May 25, 1890] at four o’clock, after an illness of five weeks. Mr. Lee was born in New York [New Jersey] in 1816. When he was two years old his parents removed to Ohio, and remained in that State until his marriage in 1842 with Miss Mary Armsby [Ormsby], who now survives him. In 1844, Mr. and Mrs. Lee removed to Iowa, and in 1862 crossed the plains in emigrant wagons to the far West, locating in Polk County. … Read more

Summerville, Union County, Oregon Died January 6, 1988 Alice Baker, 89, a long-time Summerville resident, died Friday at the La Grande Nursing Center. Mrs. Baker was born Jan. 20, 1898, at Pendleton, to Alexander and Mary Alice (Cargill) Hudson. On July 1, 1920, she married Ray Orien Baker. He died on January 14, 1975. Mrs. Baker graduated from Monmouth Teachers College and later attended the University of Oregon. She taught school in Ukiah, Hermiston, Rieth, Milton-Freewater, Stanfield and Cove. Wilma F. Molstrom of Adams died Wednesday evening [September 8, 1971] at Pendleton Community Hospital. She was 52. She was born near Gresham Nov. 15, 1908. She was married to Frank Molstrom Feb. 15, 1946, at Vancouver, Wash. They had lived on a farm near Adams since their marriage. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Garden Club, Pendleton Grain Growers Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Community Hospital Auxiliary, all of Pendleton. Walter S. Bowman, 76, native of Pendleton, was fatally injured and his wife suffered concussion of the brain as well as lacerations in an automobile accident on the Old Oregon Trail yesterday [November 27, 1938] at 3:15 p.m. when the car, driven by Mr. Bowman, skidded on the icy highway and plunged over an embankment at a point some 10 miles east of here.
