This is an 1838 muster roll of Georgia Cherokees who started from Rosses Landing in Tennessee with 1072 Cherokee men, women, children and slaves, and traversed the Trail of Tears to Indian Territory in present day Oklahoma where they arrived on 7 sep 1838 with 635 people. The official muster roll was not made until 23 July 1838 when 763 were enumerated. At this point the train had arrived at a point 25 miles south of Little Rock Arkansas.
The official calculation states that they had 144 deaths, 289 desertions, and 2 births total along the trip. That, along with the 635 counted at the end of the trail amounts to 1,066, close to the initial 1,072 who left Rosses Landing.

There are 91 family groups in the enumeration above, yet the official muster roll concludes with a total county of 763 persons. Ther math would equate to 8 persons in each family group, which i find unlikely. I would counter that the vast majority of missing were the slaves whose descendants would become freedmen of the Cherokee tribe.
