F. A. Darling was the son of Jedediah and Lydia (Stinson) Darling, born Oct. 1, 1815; married Phebe Wood Savage, Feb. 1, 1838, to whom were born the following children: Augusta, Ellen, George and Frank.

EMBERT HOWARD, long one of the most successful business men of Brockton, of which city he is also one of the foremost citizens, is a worthy representative of a family which has historic identity with the earliest settling of New England. Virginia Savage and her children sought enrollment as citizens by blood of the Chickasaw Nation through a petition to the Secretary of the Interior. Despite their inclusion on the 1893 leased district payment roll and the 1896 Chickasaw census roll, their application was denied under the 1898 Curtis Act for non-residency. Virginia Savage argued her lineage, citing relatives enrolled in the Chickasaw and Choctaw Nations. The case was supported by the Chickasaw and Choctaw leadership but ultimately required Congressional intervention for enrollment. Their petition followed precedent established by prior legislative actions recognizing individuals under similar circumstances.
Matthew Watson (d. 1720), of English lineage, married Mary Orr in 1695, and in 1718 the family immigrated from Ireland to Boston, Massachusetts and settled in Leicester, Massachusetts. Mrs. J.L. (Taylor) Savage Dies At Haines Mrs. J.L. Savage, a pioneer of 1852 died Sunday at her home four and a half miles west of Haines. She was born September, 1849, in Illinois, and came to Oregon with her parents, crossing the plains with an ox team. Her parents settled near Harrisburg in the Willamette valley, the fall of 1852, and she was a resident of Baker county for 52 years. Joseph Savage, born in Hartford, Vt., came to Stowe in 1812, where he resided until his death, in 1838, aged fifty-seven years. R. A. Savage, son of Joseph, born in this town, is a deacon of the Congregational church, at Stowe village. He has served two terms as associate judge. Joseph and his wife were among the original members of the Congregational church.
