Leila Afton Moore, 79, a former Baker and La Grande resident die June 20 in Redlands, Calif. Mrs. Moore was born Dec.3, 1907 in Lima, Mont. She married William H. Moore on May 4, 1934. He died Nov. 12, 1971. They lived in Baker a number of years before moving to La Grande. She lived in Redlands the past two years. She was a member of the Unite Methodist Church of La Grande. 1893 Ieshatubby Roll

This is a verified roll of Chickasaws registered by Ieshatubby in the Choctaw Nation under the act of June 20, 1893. The sheets are divided into columns for names, number of men, number of women, number of boys, number of girls, and totals. This roll does not indicate the amount paid or the recipients of the payments. It consists of two sheets of legal-cap paper; some names are written in ink, others in pencil. The word “paid” is generally written or indicated by ditto marks in the totals column. This roll was utilized by the Dawes Commission for enrollment purposes but was never indexed.

Unity Sailor Wreck Victim Daniel C. Moore, 22, of Unity, was among four U.S. Navy servicemen killed in a car accident in Tokyo, Japan Sunday. Moore was born in Jackson Miss. His family moved to Baker when he was a few weeks old. The family moved to Unity when he was seven. He attended grade and high schools in Unity. For a time he worked in the lumber industry in the area. In August, 1965, he enlisted in the Navy for four years. At the time of his death, he was serving as a jet mechanic in Atsugi, Japan. Alexander Bisset Munro was born 25 Dec. 1793 at Inverness, Scotland to Donald and Janet (Bisset) Munro. Alexander left Scotland at the age of 14, and lived in Dimecrana in the West Indies for 18 years. He owned a plantation, raising cotton, coffee and other produce. He brought produce to Boston Massachusetts on the ship of Solomon Dockendorff. To be sure he got his money, Solomon asked his to come home with him, where he met Solomon’s sister, Jane Dockendorff. Alexander went back to the West Indies, sold out, and moved to Round Pond, Maine, and married Jane. They had 14 children: Janet, Alexander, Margaret, Nancy, Jane, Mary, Solomon, Donald, John, William, Bettie, Edmund, Joseph and Lydia.

The Wilson family, Somerset and Barter Hill branch

In the preparation of “The Wilson family, Somerset and Barter Hill branch” I have discovered two lists of the names of the sons and daughters of Col. Ben and Ann Seay Wilson of “Somerset” in Cumberland County, Virginia, in addition to the list found in my father’s notes. None of these was arranged in the same chronological order. It was my good fortune in 1915 to find the Bible, claimed to be the Bible of Col. Ben and Ann Seay Wilson of “Somerset” in Cumberland County, Virginia. At that time this was in the hands of Miss Clementine Reid Wilson, Col. Ben’s great-granddaughter, and it was my privilege to copy, with the aid of a reading glass, for the ink was badly faded, the names of their children from that Bible in the same chronological order in which they were recorded. This chronological order, and military records found, support each other. I therefore believe that this sketch contains the most accurate chronological list of Col. Ben’s and Ann Seay Wilson’s children to be found outside of his Bible.

The records include individual jackets which give the name, organization, and rank of each soldier. They contain cards on which information from original records relating to the military service of the individual has been copied. Included in the main jacket are carded medical records, other documents which give personal information, and the description of the record from which the information was obtained.

Moore, Charles – Obituary

Accidently Killed Chas. Moore, a herder in one of Sam Litch’s sheep camps in Wallowa county, accidentally shot and killed himself this week. The camp is situated 25 miles northeast of Enterprise and the unfortunate man was found a short time after the accident by friends.
