The death of Mrs. Rebecca Jane Hayes, wife of Sanford Hayes, occurred on Sunday morning [May 25, 1913], after a lingering illness. The funeral services took place on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Kittitas Baptist Church, Mr. Hanson of the Church of Latter Day Saints officiating, and were attended by a large number of friends of the deceased. Mrs. Hayes was a pioneer of the Kittitas Valley, having come here in 1882. She was 77 years of age, her birthplace being Millersburg, Ohio, in 1836. On 23 September 1752 Jacob and Martin Stoneburner, possibly brothers, came to America on board the ship St. Andrew from Rotterdam to Philadelphia. Both of them were over the age of 16. Jacob early moved to Berks County, Pennsylvania where in 1767 he owned thirty acres, had one horse, one cow, two sheep. It was probably there that he married Anna Eva sometime before August 1758. Milo Francis Hayes, 63, who nearly a quarter of a century ago made his home here, died suddenly [April 27, 1937] at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. T.
