Cpl. Jessica Ann Ellis, 24, was killed in action in Iraq on May 11. Her funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Baker City. Bishop Thomas J. Descendants of William Eddy. William Eddye, A. M., vicar of the Church of St. Dunstan in the town of Cranbrook, County of Kent, England, is the English ancestor of the Eddy family here treated. He was a native of Bristol, educated in Trinity College, Cambridge, England, and was vicar of Cranbrook from 1589 to 1616. He married (first) Nov. 20, 1587, Mary Fosten, who died in July, 1611, and he married (second), in 1614, Elizabeth Taylor, a widow. He died Nov. 23, 1616.

Marriage records of Liberty County Georgia, 1785-1895

These marriage records were abstracted from unbound marriage bonds and licenses in the Liberty County Courthouse, Hinesville, Georgia. The names were copied as they were spelled on the bonds, often barely legible and often spelled differently on the same bond. Sometimes the marriages were performed before the licenses were issued. The first date given in the abstracts is the date of the license or bond; the second is the date of marriage. The following abbreviations are used in these abstracts with the meaning indicated:

Abram W., son of Smith and Christine (Helmer) Ellis, was born in Wyoming county, New York, and died in Pike, September 7, 1907. His life occupation was that of farming. In 1863 he enlisted in the Eighteenth New York Light Artillery, was transferred to the Twentyfifth Regiment Light Artillery, and served in the Department of the Gulf until the close of the war. He married. January 1, 1866, Marion A. Phelps, and had one child. Willis C., mentioned elsewhere.

Biographical Sketch of Clark Ellis

Clark Ellis, druggist, was born in Ohio, in 1843, and with his widowed mother, moved to Harrison County, Iowa in 1853. He enlisted in 1862, in Co. C, 29th Ia. Inft.; returned to this county at the close of the war, and engaged for a time in farming, after which he established his present business. He graduated from the Iowa State Pharmacy in 1880. A.M. Ellis, an older brother, now engaged in the stock business at this place, is also an old settler of this county. He enlisted in Co. H, 15th Ia.
