Union, Union County, Oregon Body Found. The body of A. Bacon, who was supposed to have been murdered by Sam Walters a few weeks ago, has been found on the bank of Snake river several mailes below the ferry by some men hunting for stock. The body was much disfigured by birds, but the glass eye which Bacon was known to wear was found near the head. This completes a chain of evidence which leaves no doubt as to Walters guilt. These marriage records were abstracted from unbound marriage bonds and licenses in the Liberty County Courthouse, Hinesville, Georgia. The names were copied as they were spelled on the bonds, often barely legible and often spelled differently on the same bond. Sometimes the marriages were performed before the licenses were issued. The first date given in the abstracts is the date of the license or bond; the second is the date of marriage. The following abbreviations are used in these abstracts with the meaning indicated:

Bacon, Frank H., Waltham, Vergennes p. o., was born in Waltham on May 11, 1857. He was married on September 29, 1885, to Hattie C. Bingham, a daughter of Hiram and Marion (Ford) Bingham, of Cornwall, Vt. His parents were Oscar A. and Julia A. (Stewart) Bacon. Mrs. Bacon was a daughter of Helem and Eleanor (Humphrey) Stewart, of Weybridge, Vt. Her paternal grandfather was Brazilla Stewart, who settled in Bridport, Vt., in 1790, and was a son of James Stewart, who was a native of Connecticut, and settled in Addison, Vt., at an early day. Sailed for France Oct. 7th, 1918. Served as Prison Guard with Co. 219th P. W. E. Landed at Hoboken, N. J., on his return to USA Oct. 15, 1919. Mustered out at Camp Dix, N. J. Nov. 2nd, 1919. His ancestors served in the Mexican and Civil Wars.

Henry N. Bacon, who since 1907 has been connected with the Racine City Bank as its cashier, having in that year become one of its organizers and incorporators, was born in La Harpe, Illinois, March 12, 1875, a son of H. L. and Anna Bacon. The paternal grandfather, Newton Bacon, was a cooper by trade and became one of the earliest residents of southern Wisconsin, establishing his home in Southport in 1832.
