Tex Williams Laid To Rest
Funeral services for Thomas Jefferson (Tex) Williams who passed away at his home in Wallowa Wednesday, August 17, 1960, were conducted by the Bollman Funeral Home Saturday, August 20, at 2 p.m. at the Wallowa Methodist Church, with the Rev. Willis Ludlow officiating. Geneva Johnson was organist, and Lee Scherer, soloist, sang “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” and “O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go.”
Casket bearers were Talbert Bennett, Everett Dixon, Kenneth Brooks, Frank Lindsey, Roy Hulse, and Wayne Weaver, and internment was in Lower Valley Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, the former Eliza Izora Zumwalt whom he married on September 6, 1910; ten children: Merle, of Portland, Earl and Lyle of La Grande; Chester of Ukiah; Halley, of Ontario; Leonard, of North San Juan, Calif.; Fred and Wayne, of Wallowa; Mrs. Nellie Doud, of Summerville; and Mrs. Jessie Hescock, of Eugene; and 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
