Lorin George Stanciu, 76, a Richland native, died Feb. 11, 2001, at St. Mary Medical Center at Walla Walla, Wash.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Richland. Vault interment will be at the Eagle Valley Cemetery in Richland.
Mr. Stanciu was born on Nov. 18, 1924, at Baker City to Eli and Rose Stanciu. He attended Pleasant Ridge Grade School and was a 1942 graduate of Eagle Valley High School at Richland.
He married Churby Densley on Oct. 20, 1948, at Richland. He farmed with his father, Eli, and brother, Wally, until moving to the Oregon Coast in 1964. He and his wife ran a motel at Newport until 1969.
They then moved to Walla Walla, Wash., where Mr. Stanciu worked for the parks department. They returned to Eagle Valley in 1971 where they built and operated a Grade A dairy until 1980. Mr. Stanciu continued to farm with his brother, Wally, until his death.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church at Richland where he held many positions through the years. He also was a member of the Eagle Valley Cemetery Board.
Survivors include his wife, Churby of Richland; his brother, Wally Stanciu, and his wife, Maureen, of Richland; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Stanciu of College, Place, Wash.; a daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Joe Ross Sr. of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; granddaughter and her husband, Lora and John Scott of Boise; grandson and his wife, Joe Jr. and Linda Ross of Post Falls, Idaho; and grandson, Eli Stanciu, and granddaughters, Maggie, Callie and Katie Gladden, all of College Place, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Rose Stanciu.
