Schock, Myron – Obituary

Myron Schock, 49, of Wenatchee, Wash., a former longtime Baker City resident, died on Sept. 7, 2006.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at 2407 First St.

Myron was born on Aug. 19, 1957, at Baker City to Harold and Bernice Schock. Myron grew up in Baker City with his three brothers, Robert, Vernon and Avery.

Throughout his life, Myron worked for local companies such as Alex Sackos, Wayne Pierce and Ellingson Lumber Co. He started working for Ellingson’s after he graduated from Baker High School in 1977.
Starting at the bottom pulling green chain, he eventually worked his way up to the day shift as a millwright. He worked in that position until the mill closed in 1996.

Shortly before starting his work for Ellingson’s, Myron was married to Heather Jones. During their 19 years of marriage they had six children. Upon the dissolution of their marriage, Myron relocated to John Day where he worked for D.R. Johnson as the head millwright.

Myron was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in December 2004; his tumor was surgically removed and then his cancer returned in his liver in August of 2005. Myron lived at John Day until March of 2006 when he moved to Wenatchee, Wash., where he lost his battle with cancer.

Myron enjoyed many things such as hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, family, and friends, and of course, his work. Most would describe Myron as an easygoing person and a jokester. He enjoyed giving people a hard time.

Myron touched many people’s lives, his family said; he was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his three brothers and their wives, Robert and Kathy Schock of Klamath Falls, Vernon Schock of Milton-Freewater, and Avery and Nanette Schock of Irrigon; his six children and two daughters-in-law, Doug and Teresa Schock of Everett, Wash., Trisha Schock of Wenatchee, Wash., Daniel and Ellie Schock of Weiser, Idaho, David Schock of Baker City, Nicholas Schock of Everett, Wash., and Tara Schock of Baker City; five grandchildren, Blake, Quinton, Audrie, Kya, and another grandson expected in January; and numerous nieces and nephews.
