Roger Thomas Nelson, 57, died Aug. 4, 2007, at his home in Huntington.
His memorial service was scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2625 Hughes Lane. Bishop Allen Bingham officiated. Friends were invited to join the family afterward at Howells Cafe and Streamliner Lounge in Huntington for a no-host reception.
Roger was born on Dec. 30, 1949, at Tacoma, Wash., to Thomas Watson Nelson Jr. and Alice Marie Rettke Nelson. He served four years in the U.S. Army and worked on the railroad for 27 years.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Nelson; stepdaughter, LaTrisha Morales; stepson, John Kirby, and his wife, Angie; his father, Thomas Nelson; sister, Mickey Gilbertson, and her husband, John; eight grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Ulmer; two nephews; and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Weis; and a sister, Ginger Ulmer.
