Fred “Fritz” Lohner, 99, of Baker City, died May 10, 2008, at Settler’s Park.
A private family service will be scheduled later at LaPine.
Fritz was born on June 16, 1908, at Bruno, Minn. He was the fourth of nine children born to German immigrants John and Margaret Herman Lohner. He left Minnesota for Oregon in 1927 and was employed in the logging industry from 1931 to 1975. Fritz retired at LaPine.
He married Aline Beeves in 1929. The couple celebrated 66 years together. Aline died in September 1995.
Fritz loved family gatherings, hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his brother, Carl of Springfield; sons, Fred Jr. and his wife, Lorraine, of Baker City and Edward C. of Springfield; grandchildren, Jay, and his wife, Connie, Wyn and his wife, Robin, Rene and her husband, Stan, Julie and Scot; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends, especially the caring folks at Settler’s Park, his family said.
