Oren C. Jordan, 91, of Baker City died Nov. 8, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Health Services.
At his request, there will be no funeral service.
Oren was born July 8, 1916, in Baker City to Clifford and Julia Craig Jordan. He was the youngest of there children, a sister Ruth and a brother Craig, preceded him in death, as did both his parents.
Oren attended Baker Schools, Oregon Normal School at Monmouth, Ore., and the University of Oregon where he earned his teachers certificate and Bachelor of Science degree.
Oren taught school where he made a difference in the lives of some of his students by working them successfully through subjects they had problems with. One boy, who could not seem to understand math, learned with Oren’s help and went on to a full career with NASA in Florida.
After several years teaching in many locations, Newbridge, Gilchrist, Eugene and Muddy Creek, Oren moved back to Baker City to work at the Post Office until his retirement.
He served in the Army from June 1945 to August 1946 at Holabird Signal Depot, Maryland, where he studied counter intelligence and methods of investigative reports becoming an instructor to teach military personnel military intelligence until he was discharged at the end of the war.
On Sept. 4, 1941, Oren married his wife of 66 years, Alberta Ebell.
Oren is survived by his wife Alberta; two sons: Michael D. Jordan and his wife Judi, and Jerry L. Jordan and his wife Christine; four grandchildren: Jennifer Jordan, Dr. Jeffrey Jordan and his wife Marcy, Lyle Jordan and Amy Estergard and her husband Michael; two step-grandchildren: Claire and Sarah DeNoy; and two great grandchildren: Lucy Ellen Estergard and Caelyn Terese Jordan.
