Truman Weaver Johnson, 56, of Baker City, died April 22, 2008.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Baker City Christian Church, 675 Highway 7. Pastors Larry Auld, Lenny Spooner and Roger Scovil will officiate.
Friends are invited to join the family for a reception at the church following the service.
Truman was born Nov. 29, 1951, in Long Beach, Calif., to Lawrence Homer and Juanita Zudora (Shippy) Johnson. He was a longtime resident of Baker City and graduated from Baker High School in 1972.
After high school Truman served his country in the U.S. Army before returning home to Baker. He worked at Marvin Wood Products in Baker City for more than 13 years.
Truman always wore his signature cowboy hat and boots. His most distinguishing feature was his big smile, which he carried with him everywhere he went. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. His faith led him to pursue becoming an ordained minister.
Truman loved his family very much and, being the oldest of eight children, would watch after them while growing up. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed by all the family and friends whose hearts he touched throughout his life.
Truman was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Judy Ann Profitt, who died May 10, 2003. He married Wendy Gayhart on Dec. 12, 2003 in Baker City.
Truman is survived by his wife Wendy Johnson and her son Joshua; two step-children from his first marriage, Dawn Mack of Bow, Wash., and John Valentine of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Mandi Mack of Sedro Woolley Wash., and Dusty Mack of Georgia in military college; seven siblings, Larry Johnson and wife Barbara of Baker City, Susan Olsen and husband Steve of Baker City, Ronnie Johnson and wife Tracy of Newberg, Mitchel Johnson and wife Lisa of Baker City, Pamela Donicht and husband Mike of Baker City, Brenda Chandler and husband Darin of La Grande, and Scott Johnson and wife Veronica of Baker City; nine nieces and six nephews.
