Edward Jasper Dies Wednesday; Burial Saturday
Edward D. Jasper aged 53, died at the Grande Ronde hospital Wednesday afternoon after an illness of two weeks of pneumonia. Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. J. George Walz in charge. The burial service will take place in the Island City cemetery with the Blue Mountain grange in charge.
Pallbearers were announced today as M. C. Howell, Frank Wright, Ralph Wells, Harry Cleaver, Lee Childers and George Gray.
The body will rest at Walker’s Funeral home chapel until 1 o’clock Saturday.
Mr. Jasper was a native of this county, being born near Elgin June 4, 1882, and spending most of his life in the Grande Ronde valley. He was a graduate of La Grande high school and the University of Oregon and a member of the Blue Mountain grange. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and served as trustee and elder.
He is survived by his widow; a son, Donald; three daughters, Edna, Jean and Mary, and a brother Frank, of La Grande.
