Howard H. Hampton, 94, Baker City, Ore., died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Care Center, Baker City.
A graveside service and burial was at Yamhill Carlton Cemetery on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, 10 a.m. Pastor Jim Peterson officiated.
Howard was born May 19, 1912, in Hollis, Okla., to Mason and Etta Williams Hampton and grew up in Sofia, N.M. In 1934 he moved to Steamboat Springs, Colo. In 1949 he moved to Yamhill, Ore., where he worked for Stiller Brothers Lumber Company for 25 years. He was a member of IOOF.
He married Lulu Stonebrink on Dec. 12, 1932, in Clayton, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lulu in 1998; brothers, Warren, Amos and Jack Hampton; sisters, Nellie Clayson, Agnes Patterson, Grace Clayson and Arletta Henderson.
He is survived by son, George Hampton of Yamhill, Ore.; daughter, Winona Swain of Ashland, Ore.; sister, Vera Tatum of Ione, Wash.; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
