Dorrah, Shirley Nell Derrick Mrs. – Obituary

Shirley Nell Dorrah, 63, a lifelong Baker City resident, died July 20, 2007, at her home after a long battle with cancer.

Her memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St. A gathering is planned from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at her home. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. PDT at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser, Idaho.

Shirley was born March 4, 1944, to Marve and Margaret Derrick. After graduating from Baker High School, she worked for Leo Adler for a while and then went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. She retired from the Forest Service in 1997 after 30 years of service.

After retiring, she assisted her husband, whom she met in 1990, at their business, York’s Park Grocery.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis; a son, Jeff Miller, and his wife, Rachael; a sister, Sandy Geils, and her husband, Gary; brothers, Harely Derrick, and Lee Derrick, and his wife, Susan; stepdaughters, Cathy Stewart, Cristy Keeney and Megan Dorrah; 16 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics through Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.
