Viola M. “Vi” Burnside, 80, of Hermiston, a former Baker City resident, died Feb. 17, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in Hermiston.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Burial will be at the Hermiston Cemetery.
Vi was born April 3, 1926, at Tipton, Iowa, to William and Dorothy Williamson Driver. She was raised at Lincoln, Neb., where she attended schools until moving to Pondosa at the age of 13.
She married Floyd H. Burnside on June 12, 1947, at La Grande. They lived at Baker City for a time before settling in Hermiston in 1961 where she had lived since.
She was a member of the Hermiston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Auxiliary. Vi enjoyed crocheting, watching television, word search puzzles, fishing, and camping.
Survived include her sons, Marcus Burnside of Pueblo West, Colo., and Dale Burnside of Hermiston; daughters, Dorothy Trotter, Jeannette Smith and Gail Raines, all of Hermiston; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, who died in 2004; her parents; two sisters, Julia Hughes and Leona Maddis; and three grandchildren, Mandie Burnside, Patrick Richardson and Miles Richardson.
