Daniel Chase

2. DANIEL5 CHASE (Moses4, Daniel3, Moses2, Aquilla1) b. in Sutton, Mass., March 15, 1753, and d. Aug. 13, 1841, aged 88. Came to Cornish with his father. When of age, he purchased an extensive tract of land north of Cornish Flat and built a large and fine residence thereon. He held many offices of honor and trust, and enjoyed a good degree of popularity as well as the confidence of his townsmen. The name of “ESq. Daniel Chase,” carried weight Socially, morally and financially. He m. first, Sept. 5, 1776, Mehitable Kimball of Plainfield, dau. of Benjamin and Hannah (Richards) Kimball,, b. March 12, 1757, in Preston, Conn., and d. May 2, 1813; m. Second, -, _-Mrs. Mary (Estabrook) Hall, wid. of Moody Hall. She took her young children with her by agreement. She was b. Feb. 9, 1769, and d. ‘May 21, 1824. Hem. third, Jan. 5, 1825, Mary ‘May of Bradford, Vt. Shed. Jan. 16, 1831. Hem. fourth, Mrs. Mary C. (Kimball) Daniels, dau. of Joseph and Hannah (Morgan) Kimball and wid. of John Daniels, b. in Nov., 1767, d. Jan. 27. 1855. Children, all by first marriage:

i. CLEMENTINE, b. Sept. 29, 1777; d. Oct. 22, 1777.
ii. GERARD, b. Jan. 16, 1779; d. July 14, 1780.
iii. DANIEL, b. Dec. 5,1780; d. July 17, 1782.
iv. HANNAH, b. Jan. 14, 1783; m. Feb. 15, 1803, Rev. Joseph Rowell, then pastor of the Congregational Church in Cornish. He served the church 28 Years as pastor and then rem. to Claremont, where she d. Feb. 26, 1869. Had eleven children. The greater portion of these were ministers, teachers and missionaries.
