Aquilla Chase

AQUILLA1 CHASE, b. in Conway, Eng., in 1618, was the honored ancestor of all of this name who have ever lived in Cornish. With two of his brothers he came to America in 1639, and settled in Hampton. He m. Ann Wheeler, rem. to Newbury, Mass., in 1646 and d. there Dec. 27, 1670. They had eleven children. Their youngest son, Moses2, sometimes called “Ensign Moses,” was b. Dec. 24, 1663. John Cole

JOHN and JEMIMA COLE (pedigree unknown) lived in Cornish near the close of the 18th century. There is no trace of the family remaining on tombstone, or elsewhere, except the following list of children. The census of 1790 credits the family with three boys and one girl beside the parents. FRED LOREN FIFIELD, a brother of Frank A., was b. in Plainfield Nov. 14, 1861; m. May 1, 1895, Ella, dau. of Henry and Mary (Sullivan) Thayer, b. July 4, 1868. GEORGE8 WELD (Horace7, John6, Moses5, John4, Joseph3, John2, Joseph1) was b. Dec. 13, 1817; m. April 9, 1843, Maria Chase of Cornish, dau. of Theodore and Judith (Bryant) Chase, b. Nov. 18, 1821; d. Sept. 9. 1894. For many years a teacher of schools in N. H. and Mass. Served as drum major in the home militia, hence received the title of major. He d. Jan. 6, 1883. Children: 1. FRANCES MARIA, b.
