The first death in this vicinity caused by Spanish Influenza was the four year old son of William Halsey who lives on upper Prairie Creek. The death occurred Saturday and comes as a hard blow to the parents and friends of the little boy. The funeral was held Sunday. Delilah Ellen Troy, daughter of David and Ellen Troy, was born at Elgin, Ore., July 4, 1873. She was united in marriage to John A. Logan Beem on Nov. 13, 1891, and to this union eight children were born, four of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Beem spent her early childhood in and near Elgin and grew to young womanhood there.
