Eloise Cornwell died on Aug. 2, 2007 at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in La Grande. She was 87.

Mrs. Cornwell was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Enterprise to Arthur C. and Nettie L. Beam Haggerty. On July 5, 1938, she married Leonard L.

Cornwell. She worked as a linotype operator for the Wallowa County Chieftain for many years. After retiring, she and her husband enjoyed traveling in “Big Brown”, their converted bus. They spent winters in Arizona and summers in Wallowa County.

Mrs. Cornwell is survived by her daughter Judi and Terry Holbrook of Enterprise; grandsons Ron and Denise Holbrook of Broomfield, Colo. and Dan and Barbara Holbrook of Keizer and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother Vaughn Haggerty.

At her request, there will be no service.

Eloise Cornwell, 87, of Wallowa County and La Grande, died Aug. 2 at a care center in La Grande. At her request, there will be no service.

She was born Feb. 8, 1920, to Arthur C. and Nettie L. (Beam) Haggerty in Enterprise. On July 5, 1938, she married Leonard L. Cornwell.

Eloise worked as a linotype operator for the Wallowa County Chieftain for many years. After retiring, she and Leonard enjoyed traveling in “Big Brown,” their converted bus. They spent winters in Arizona and summers in Wallowa County.

Eloise is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Terry Holbrook of Enterprise; grandsons and their wives, Ron and Denise Holbrook of Broomfield, Colo., and Dan and Barbara Holbrook of Keizer; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Vaughn Haggerty.
