Enterprise, Oregon Julie Butner, 57, former resident of Enterprise passed away at home surrounded by her family, on Sept. 12 in Spokane, Wash., after a brave five-year battle with cancer. Her shortened life left her with many great memories, most of which were shared with her husband, John Butner, of 39 years. She was born on Aug. 31, 1947 to Jack and Evelyne Wagner. Julie grew up in Enterprise, spending much of her time at her parents business, Wagner’s Men’s Store. Mr. Barton was born in Howell county, Missouri, June 13, 1843, being at the time of his demise, 86 years and 9 days of age. Mr. Barton was brought up in Arkansas, married in Illinois and came to Wallowa in 1880. Ruth Ackerman, 41 and five children died Tuesday, November 29, when a fire leveled their log home at Priest River, Idaho. The father, William Ackerman, 48, thought his family was behind him when he rushed to the door but they weren’t. The minute he opened the door the house became an inferno. A sixth child, Randy, 15 was sleeping in a nearby camper vehicle and was not injured. The blaze may have been touched off when a double-barrel wood-burning heating stove overheated, according to Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Gordon Sunquist.
