Many applications to the Eastern Cherokee Tribe claimed Cherokee descent through Alexander Brown. As was the procedures for the commission setup by the Courts to oversee the payment, they batched family groups together and filed the reasoning for admittance or rejection under the lowest numbered application. In this case it was the application #35 of Elijah Eaves. As I process the additional files of each of the applications for this family group I will list their descent in this genealogy. There were over 150 applications submitted claiming descent from Alexander Brown, so this will take some time. None of these individuals were ever admitted to the Eastern Cherokee tribe as the commission claimed that their ancestor, Alexander Brown, was a different Alexander Brown than the one enrolled in the 1835 Henderson Roll. Or, at least, the descendants couldn't prove they were the same.
Alexander Brown was born abt. 1770 in Bedford County, Virginia and died 17 Sep 1837 in Brighton, Missouri. He was married on 20 Feb 1797 in Bedford County, Virginia, to Violet Barton born about 1778.
