Fix, Alice Ruth Vickers – Obituary

Alice Ruth Fix, passed peacefully away into the hands of her Heavenly Father on 2 June 1996 in Santa Barbara, CA.

Born 18 June 1908 to Howard and Catherine Vickers in Kingsville, Ontario, Canada. The family moved to Drumheller, Alberta, Canada when she was 3 years of age. Alice was the eldest of 5 children. She married Earl George Fix in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada, on 10 Dec. 1925 and later emigrated to the United States. Alice lived in Orting and Tacoma, WA until Oct. 1962 when she moved to Santa Barbara, CA.

Her husband; 1 sister, Vera Larsen of Seattle; 2 brothers, Jay and Frederick Vickers of Drumheller, Alberta, Canada, all predeceased her. Alice worked for Santa Barbara Savings and Loan Assoc. until her retirement. She then worked for Let’s Dine Out, and for the Santa Barbara Historical Museum as a Docent, until ill health forced her retirement. She was active in Grace Church for a number of years, before attending Montecito Covenant Church.

She is survived by sons, Lesley, Gig Harbor, Randall, Copperas Cove, TX, Dan, Camarillo, CA; daughter, Linda Steinhoff, Goleta, CA; 8 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 8 great-granddaughters, 5 great-grandsons; and a sister, Iva Gosenberg, Tacoma. Memorial services will be held on 12 June, 11 a.m. at Montecito Covenant Church, 671 Cold Springs Road, Santa Barbara. Interment will be later in Sumner Cemetery, Sumner. Arrangements by Welch-Ryce-Haider.
