Mrs. Effie Imogene Bathurst, who had resided in Chico for the past 49 years, died at the Taylor’s Nursing Home Monday following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Bathurst was born in Marion County, Oregon, on July 14, 1878, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Franklin.
From 1920 until 1946, Mrs. Bathurst was employed at Richardson Springs and in 1926, was married to William J. Bathurst, Sr. She was a member of Josephine Chapter No. 104, OES of Chico, the WBA of Chico and the Pioneer Club of Chico.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bathurst is survived by the following children: Charlie Lee [son of her first husband Leonidas Lee] of Chico; William Lee [son of Leonidas] of Redman, Ore.; Mrs. Florence Hatch [stepdaughter] of South Portland, Maine; William J. Bathurst, Jr. [stepson], of Chico, and Angus Bathurst [stepson], of Arcata; 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a brother, Oscar Franklin, of Portland, Ore., and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Warner, also of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Viola Looney of Mollola, Ore.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Brusie Funeral Home Thursday at 11 a.m. and interment will be in the Chico Cemetery. Rev. Wendell Ensor, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church officiated at the funeral services conducted in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home this morning for Mrs. Effie Imogene Bathurst, who died Monday.
During the service Richard Emmoris accompanied Roy Jefferies as he sang “In the Garden” and “Beautiful Isle.” Interment was in the Chico Cemetery and casket bearers were Harry Mulock, George Campbell, Everett Cudd, Ed Newton, Ned Richardson and Clay Pettus.
