Bean, Ina Elizabeth Condon – Obituary

Mrs. Ina Condon Bean, pioneer daughter of Oregon, widow of Federal Judge Robert S. Bean and mother of City Commissioner O. R. Bean, died Sunday night [April 11, 1937] at her home, 7326 Southwest Brier Place, where she had lived since 1921.

Mrs. Bean was born in Linn County, November 13, 1857, the daughter of Dr. Thomas and Cornelia Holt Condon. Dr. Condon came to Oregon as a missionary and later became a famous geologist of the Oregon country, serving as professor of geology at the University of Oregon and writing authoritative works on the subject. Mrs. Bean was a graduate of the university with the class of 1881. Judge and Mrs. Bean were married September 7, 1880, and they came to Portland in 1909 from Salem, where he was a member of the state supreme court.

Mrs. Bean is survived by three sons-Condon R. Bean, Seattle, and Ormond R. and Robert D. Bean, Portland; a sister, Mrs. Frederick Nolf, Seattle; a brother, Herbert T. Condon, Seattle, and eight grandchildren, Nancy Anne and Thomas, children of Condon R. Bean; Robert S. Bean, son of the late Ernest G. Bean; Ormond R. Jr. and Betty, children of Ormond R. Bean; Janet Sharp and Harold Gilmer, children of the late Harold C. Bean, and Yvonne, daughter of Robert D. Bean.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the family home at 7326 Southwest Brier place, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
