Burton L. Peffers, 63, 908 E. Fifth Avenue, a native of Ellensburg, died at Sorensen Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon [November 21, 1956]. He had been in ill health 2 ½ years and had been hospitalized the past week.
Peffers was born here Feb. 2, 1893, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Peffers, pioneer residents of the Fairview District. He married Zelma Hailey on Nov. 8, 1950, in Reno, NV.
He was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife; a stepson, Homer Seriven, of Stockton, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lela Stiger, of Miami, Fla.; three step grandchildren; three brothers, William Peffers of Ellensburg, Albert Peffers of Sunnyside, and John Peffers of Coos Bay, Ore. and a sister, Mrs. Mary McEwen of Ellensburg.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dan J. Rueb officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, and American Legion Post 8 will conduct military graveside services.
