Was sent to Camp Lee, Va., Sept. 17, 1917. Sailed for France May 25, 1918. Fought at St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne and in all other engagements of the 80th Div. Arrived in the USA May 30, 1919. Mustered out at Camp Lee, Va., June 12, 1919.
John Tucker, proprietor of the Globe meat market, Peirce Street, Hubbard house block, established business in 1867. In 1881 he refitted his place of business at a cost of $2,000, and has now all the modern improvements, his establishment being a credit to the city. He was born in England in 1838; came to America in 1858, and settled in Va. He removed to Sioux City in 1867.

C.; transferred to Camp Forrest, Ga. Went to Brest, France, about April 1, 1918. Was shot in left arm and shell shocked on Oct. 16th, next to last drive before the armistice was signed. Sent to Base Hospital No. 48, France. Sent to USA on hospital ship to Newport News, Va., where he died on June 15, 1919. Buried at Randleman, N.C.

He was born in Brighton, Kenosha County, on the 14th of May, 1854, a son of William and Jane (Gilbert) Tucker, natives of England, the former born in 1823 and the latter in 1818.
