Marriage records of Liberty County Georgia, 1785-1895

These marriage records were abstracted from unbound marriage bonds and licenses in the Liberty County Courthouse, Hinesville, Georgia. The names were copied as they were spelled on the bonds, often barely legible and often spelled differently on the same bond. Sometimes the marriages were performed before the licenses were issued. The first date given in the abstracts is the date of the license or bond; the second is the date of marriage. The following abbreviations are used in these abstracts with the meaning indicated:

Biography of Park E. Salter

Park E. Salter, born in Butler County in 1877, is a prominent figure known for his contributions to livestock and the oil industry. A son of pioneer Thomas B. Salter, he managed Park Place Stock Farm, specializing in thoroughbred cattle, hogs, and horses. Educated at Augusta High School and State Agricultural College, Park initially worked in real estate before focusing on his stock and oil interests. He owns significant oil leases in Butler County and has continued his father’s legacy in developing the region’s resources. He married Grace Brown and has three children.
