Henry Miller, an honored pioneer of Wallowa county, died at his home in Turlock, California, Sunday morning aged 73 years. No particulars of his death has been received. Mr. Miller was born in Virginia and cmae to Oregon 30 years ago. He was active in the upbuilding of this county and no man was mre highly respected. He served two terms as county treasurer. He was the proprietor of the Rink Livery, Sale & Feed Barn, Battle Creek, Iowa. The building was 30 x 80 feet, well arranged, and equipped throughout. Mr. Miller kept a full line of carriages and buggies, with ten to sixteen good driving horses, speedy and gentle. His kind courtesy to patrons secured for him a good trade. Was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, April 13, 1828. His parents were Michael and Sarah Gates Miller. His mother was a niece of General Gates of Revolutionary fame. His parents were both born in Pennsylvania. From his native State our subject removed to Ohio and lived there for a number of years, engaged in farming. Steven Anthony Miller, 60, of Walla Walla and formerly of La Grande, died Sept. 18 after suffering from a cardiac problem while driving on U.S. Highway 12. A funeral service was held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Walla Walla last month. Steven was born Sept. 2, 1947, to Reuben and Lois Ruth Taylor Teske in Baker City.
