Died-In Ashland, Wisconsin, July 13, 1920, Dellivan McGinnis, age 33 years, 6 months and 15 days. Dellivan McGinnis was the son of Mrs. Lillie Cross, of Union. He was born at Milton, Oregon, in 1887. He was married to Miss Rita Wilson, July 30, 1910. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines in May, 1918, and received a discharge March 4, 1919. He died at Ashland, Wisconsin, July 13, 1920. Baker County Has Murder Mystery The body of Pat McGinnis, a man of about 45 years of age, and who had lived in Baker county for a number of years, was found Friday morning, in a cabin about three miles from Salisbury, near Lockhart. A bullet hole in the chest, and a shot-gun lying beside the body, gave indications as to how the man met his death. The body was taken to Baker and Coroner Earl West held an inquest. Compiled military service records for 1,235 Rough Riders, including Teddy Roosevelt have been digitized. The records include individual jackets which give the name, organization, and rank of each soldier. They contain cards on which information from original records relating to the military service of the individual has been copied. Included in the main jacket are carded medical records, other documents which give personal information, and the description of the record from which the information was obtained.

This survey of Wintergreen Cemetery, Port Gibson, Mississippi, was completed in 1956 by Mr. Gordon M. Wells and published by Joyce Bridges the same year. It contains the cemetery readings Mr. Wells was able to obtain at that date. It is highly likely that not all of the gravestones had survived up to that point, and it is even more likely that a large portion of interred individuals never had a gravestone.

Biographical Sketch of John McGinnis

John McGinnis and his wife came from Ireland, and settled first in Virginia, from whence they removed to Kentucky. Their son, Greenberry D., married Sallie Lewis, of Kentucky, and settled in Lincoln Co., Mo., in 1832. His children were Elizabeth, Margaret B., William B., Jane, Nancy, Thomas S., Maria, Milton, Sarah E., and Mary E. Milton married Margaret Williams, and settled in Pike County. Elizabeth married Enoch Sevier, and lives in Lincoln County. William B. married twice and settled in Illinois. Jane and Nancy died single. Sarah E. married John Harris, and settled in Illinois. In 1940 and 1943, a survey of everyone who had lived in Washington County, Idaho continuously for 50 years or more, was made by the Weiser American. These pioneer residents were especially honored at the Fall Festival held in the fall of both years. So far as is known, the list compiled by the survey is complete and perhaps the only record of its kind in existence.
