The Lincoln County New Mexico online archives contains pdf’s of all remaining copies of the El Farol Newspaper of Capitan NM, but doesn’t have an index to the newspaper. C. W. Barnum, an active member of AHGP, and state coordinator for the New Mexico AHGP recently invested his time and energy into providing an every person index to the various extant issues. Fred. Packard

Frederick Packard, born in 1836 in Brockton, MA, emerged as a prominent figure in the local shoe manufacturing industry. His success stemmed from hard work and business acumen. He began his career making boots and shoes, eventually founding firms such as Burt & Packard, which gained a reputation for quality. A respected community member, Packard was active in local organizations and politics but shunned public office. He married Mary Eliza Ramsdell, and after a long and prosperous life, he passed away in 1910, leaving a lasting legacy.

A historical record of patients detained at the Canton Indian Insane Asylum in South Dakota in 1910, this page lists 61 inmates and reflects the troubled legacy of an institution where many Native Americans were confined without clear evidence of mental illness. The cemetery, now on a golf course, was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.
