Biographical Sketch of Henry Jones

Henry Jones, of Wales, emigrated to America, and settled in Henry County, Va., where he married and had the following children Fielding, Joseph, Lewis, Peter, Willis, Delila, and Elizabeth. Lewis married Fannie Lamb, of North Carolina, and settled in Missouri in 1837. His children were-Henry, Zero, Joseph, George, Elizabeth, Willis Malinda, Lewis, Delila, and Fielding, all of whom married and settled in Missouri. Willis is-a Baptist preacher, and married Margaret C. Burson, of Virginia, whose father was also a Baptist preacher.

Sergt., 1st Class, Med. Dept.; of Moore County; son of T. A. and Barbara Alice Jones. Entered service Sept. 13, 1916, at Addor, N.C. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio. Transferred to Ft. Sam, Houston, Texas. Transferred from there to Ft. McIntosh, Texas. Promoted to Sergt. Feb. 7, 1917. On July 1, 1919, to Sergt., 1st Class. Ft. Scrivens, Ga., to Ft. Ontario, N. Y., to Ft. Hamilton, N. Y., was with American Expeditionary Forces in Mexico one month. With the 14th U. S. Cavalry. Mustered out at Ft. Hamilton, N. Y., Feb. 9, 1920.

The wills in this book come from Book A of the Wills found at the Logan County Court house in Russellville, Kentucky. The information was extracted in 1957 by Mrs. Vick on behalf of the DAR located in Russellville. The text in this book was done with an old manual typewriter and has the usual faint and filled-in type often found with such papers. On top of the difficulty in interpreting the print from the typewriter, the scanning process was also deficient, and led to the creation of a faint digital copy exacerbating the difficult to read text.

Biographical Sketch of Samuel Jones

Samuel Jones, from Framingham, Mass., came to Dublin in 1777, settling upon a farm on road 12, which he bought of Joseph Adams, the first settler on the farm. His son, Samuel, married Mary, daughter of Joshua Farnum, a soldier in the Revolutionary war. He spent his life on the home farm and reared a family of seven children. His son, Corydon married Abbie g., daughter of Col. Rufus C. Piper, of this town. He has four children, and is still residing on the old homestead.

Private 118th Inf., Co. E, 30th Div. Born in Guilford County; the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robt. J. Jones. Entered the service July 24, 1917, at High Point, N.C. Was sent to Camp Sevier, S. C., and from there to Camp Mills, N. Y. Sailed for France May 23, 1918. Fought at Ypres Sector, Belgium, July 4 to Aug. 10, 1918. Returned to USA March 27, 1919. Was mustered out at Camp Jackson, S. C., March 31, 1919.

Added to some of those gravestone listings were familial relationships if known. In addition, they referenced an even earlier listing of a few of the cemeteries by William Eardley taken in 1901.
